broodc2
I know there are some local reef societies but I was just wondering if anyone on NR is in the Charlotte/Rock Hill, Fort Mill area. Link to comment

broodc2
Hey guys! Nice to see some "locals." The only place I know of nearby is Fintastic. They have pretty good selection but I think their prices are way high (apologies if you guys work there or are very close to any of their people). It'd be great to know if there are any alternatives to at least finding affordable frags locally (within driving distance). I'd love to get some starter LPS but even for 1 inch frags, Fintastic charges a lot. I'm nervous about shipping and it would be a hassle to be able to be at home for deliveries. Plus, unless ordering in bulk the shipping charge for overnight wipes out any kind of savings vs. LFS. I'm brand new to salt water and my tank has been up for about 2 months. Just can't see myself spending close to $100 for a piece of coral that I might nuke in a matter of days. Link to comment
tibbsy07
Not Charlotte, but Chapel Hill so kind of close. Link to comment
Eisernes
I used to live in Lancaster. If they are still open check out Nemo's in Matthews. They are small and are able to give personal attention to their customers and usually have a nice selection of frags and fish at a fraction of what Fintastic charges. Fintastic is ok but you have to pay those Arsley prices. Link to comment

Im from the charlotte area but I gotta be honest I stay away from the charlotte fish clubs and stick to the SCaquarium club and raleigh clubs. Link to comment

There's a small shop in Mint Hill that hasn't been opened very long, but his prices are pretty fair and usually stock some really nice LPS. A few other places worth checking out Advanced Aquatic Pets, AquarisUSA, Reef Czar, and Nemo's reef. Also, worth mentioning is the 20% discount on purchases when you join RASOC. Link to comment

joy13
I am not for sure what you are looking for but there is Greendales in Kannapolis also I don't know how far out you want to travel but Triad Reef Critters up at Greensboro I haven't been to their new store I was going to stop on the way back from reefsmart but had spent to much already. Inland reef has some great livestock where you won't see anywhere else. Link to comment

broodc2
Stopped by Nemo's this past weekend. What a great LFS! Extremely clean and all fish looked really healthy and happy. I was glad to hear the associates telling folks not to buy certain fish due to the customers' setup. They don't seem like they are in it just for the money. Rather, they really care about where their livestock is going. I picked up my first coral frag ever as well as a RBTA and two fish. Prices were great! Some of the fish were right at or below liveaquaria prices. I will surely go back to Nemos. On a sidenote, I didn't realize there were so many LFS around me. I thought fantastic was the only show in town. I will need to make an effort to travel up to Mooresville and out to Mint Hill for sure now. Sounds like it might be worth it to look into RASOC. I'll have to put that on my list. Thanks for your help. Does anyone get together for frag swaps in and around Charlotte? Link to comment
feh
I've just recently moved back to the Charlotte area after living in ATL for 5 years. What other shops are there besides Nemo's Reef and Fintastic? Link to comment
tibbsy07
I'm in the Triangle. I haven't been to any of the Charlotte stores, but in Greensboro ~an hour north of Charlotte there is a store called Triad Reef Critters. That's my go-to store now. Takes me a bit over an hour to get there, but it's worth it. Link to comment

rod00007
Fort Mill, SC here. Nemo's is the only one in Charlotte at this point. Fintastic is currently Missing in action. You get more for your money at Nemo's anyway. Link to comment
