Monochrome5
Well I've been pretty absent from the forums lately. I do apologize for that. The good news is that I have moved to my first house! And with that house comes, you guessed it, a NEW TANK!! My girlfriend made the comment "You know, a bigger tank would really look nice in here" and such my new aquarium was born! Monochrome5
Looks very nice! Nice hammer and love the melanurus. Do you raise the spawn of the cleaners? My wrasses take care of the spawn in a matter of minutes... though I have about half a dozen in my refugium that I'm trying to raise up. They're about the size of my pinky nail. Link to comment

Monochrome5
Cool! Does your Longnose ever eat coral? Or do they just mess with inverts? Or neither? I don't think my longnose even realizes he is in a reef! He hasn't bothered a single thing. Begs like a puppy at dinner time when I break out the shrimp. From what I've read (and trust me, I've read a lot) 99% of longnose butterflies are reef safe. Their even longer nose cousin, the long longnose (F. forcipiger) is like 99.99999% reef safe. Its also significantly harder to come by for whatever reason. The real difference between the two is forcipiger has freckles on its chin and an even longer snout. Other than that they behave very, very similar. I love mine. Link to comment

Monochrome5
Do you think either would be comfy in a 40B? Or a juvi for a while? As a juvi, yes they should be OK. I'd be worried as an adult, as they can get to about 9". granted 3"+ of that is nose, but still. Big fish for a tank that size. Link to comment
Monochrome5
what about clams/inverts? these two pictures are stunning.. Thanks! He actually is slow enough for me to focus haha. I'm going to do another round of photos this weekend and hopefully get some better pictures of everyone else. As far as inverts go, he is currently residing with 4x peppermint shrimp, 2x skunk cleaners, and a plethora of snails, hermits and conchs. Hasn't touched a single thing. I think part of the success most people have is by getting them as young as possible. Teach them that they will always have yummy food and they are far less likely to go searching elsewhere. Plus, at least with mine, these guys seem to recognize their owners and know when you're getting ready to feed. That really is reassuring knowing that he knows where food comes from and that it isn't my reef As far as clam safety goes, no idea yet. Most people say they are A-OK with clams. I don't have one yet to attest to their safety, but I do have a clam on my Christmas list so hopefully one will show up under the tree! On second thought, under a tree may not be the most ideal place for a clam.... hehe. Link to comment

Monochrome5
Looks great! How long have you had that potters wrasse? A bit over 7 months now. He is an absolute pig and doesn't back down from anyone at feeding time. I designed this tank with him in mind (deeper sand, refugium, etc). My absolute favorite fish, hands down. You need to marry this girl--Now! Working on it Welcome back. Tank looks awesome. I'm liking the frogspawn and toxic hammer. Hammer from cherry corals? My LFS bought a few of those toxic hammers. I designed this tank with him in mind (deeper sand, refugium, etc). My absolute favorite fish, hands down. Cool. I had one for three months and then I lost it for no visible reason. It was always a good eater; it even at pellets. Link to comment

Cool, I might have take a drive over there to look for the frogspawn but anther LFS has the toxic hammer for $69. Unless they have a sale which will be anther 10-15% off. Depending what weekend special they have. Link to comment
