Any updates? I'm curious.

Nope, everything looks the same. A little less diatoms, because the trochus are taking care of it, I might move them to my 40 breeder and grab a single astrea from the 40 for this tank- don't want them to starve. I picked up a small yellow tail damsel as my readings are at 0. Need to pick up some corals, but it could be a while.

I know it's not such a good idea and it's too late for you now, but I just took some LS LR and water from my 28g and put it all together in my 2.5g, which worked out pretty well, but I had some extra LR. I was wondering if you ever thought of doing what I did when you were starting out your pico?

Thought about it, but I didn't really have any excess rock that was suitable. Also, I don't want sand in this setup because it's just a massive nutrient sink, especially with a fish and feeding in there. Right now there's no flow in the tank, just the live rock for filtration. Will observe how nutrients buildup, but plan on doing a 100% water change every 2 weeks. Will probably have some GSP on the bottom to make it more easy on the eye

Got a couple of frags today, a "dragon eye" zoa that doesn't look like the ones I've seen before (probably mislabeled) and a 1 headed candy cane with a red body and green center

how bright is the red candy cane? it is more brownish. i have never seen a bright red candy cane coral.

More brown than red, maroon would be a better descriptor. I have never seen a "red" candy cane either, bet there are plenty of favites that offer that color!

Insane feeder tentacles on this new candy cane last night... so far the snails, rock, fish, and coral are doing fine with no flow. Havn't done a water change yet, but nitrates are still closer to 0 than 5.

I had to superglue the frag plugs down in order to get them to stay in place. This is a top down shot of the new zoas

It's basically sealed since the water level comes up and meets the lid, small air bubble as seen below between the water and top:

Candy Cane... hoping it grows faster than the one I have in my 40

And lastly... where is all this stuff on the bottom glass coming from? No wonder people like to run bare bottom... pretty disgusting stuff considering the glass was spotless before the live rock went in.

I have been blasting the zoas for about 1 minute everyday with a syringe just before lights out to blow away any debris and slime that has built up, we'll see how they do with this no flow setup

if it is sealed how does the tank get air? do you open the lid every few hours? that's dangerous - what if you have to go somewhere for a few days and leave your tank?

It's been like this for a week now and everything seems to be doing ok. Lid gets opened when I feed and blast the corals never more frequently than 24 hrs. Damsel seems perfectly fine.. plenty of O2 being produced by the algae on the live rock, you can see the bubbles built up under the lid at the end of the day.

This tank is at my place, and I am currently in College. I am here everyday, and when I go home it's never for more than 2-3 days which shouldn't be a problem. It'll be real fun to move it for the longer breaks though!!

Added a couple of small coral from my 40 today. Some GSP, Xenia, Green Mushroom, and a devil's hand frag that is just too small to be in the 40, keeps getting knocked over.

Did my first water change today, siphoned out all the detritus. Nitrates were between 0&5 before the w.c. have them back down to 0 after. Have a bit of an algae problem, glass is really dirty. Xenia frag doesnt look to hot, and the GSP is yet to open up. Devil's hand is happy and showing great P.E. Hopefully I will pick up a filter this weekend!

Picked up a cheap HOB filter this weekend. All the corals look happier except for the candy cane... might be moving this to my 40 breeder soon.

There was a bunch of algae on the front glass, about the same as the left side pane. Left the algae on there because there are a bunch of pods in there feeding on it

I added a 5 astrea snails and 5 blue leg hermits to help with my algae problems a week ago. I have since removed most of the snails since they took care of the majority of the algae. Currently I have 3 astreas (will probably go down to 2) and 4 hermits (apparently one of the "hermits" I bought was a dwarf cerith, so I have that too)

The zoas have been showing some growth and there are a couple of new polyps. There are a couple of different varieties of zoas within the frag itself, so I'll post some pics of them later on.

aiptasia?

The only one... has been taken care of. I sold that frag, so I need to find more stuff to put in here. Hopefully some nice zoas will be added soon. Will add some mushrooms and xenia tomorrow!

Had to change up the rock work in order to glue down my new ORA orange digitata. I finally glued down the dragon eye zoas as well... they're a little pissed off from being out of the water while I cut off the stem of the frag plug. Not a huge fan of the new scape, but it'll have to do until the monti starts encrusting.... I might flip it back to the original position after everything's secure.

Anyways... Christmas Break has come around. What do you think I should do... I can transport everything home and set it back up, but that seems like a hassle. I want to just take the damsel out and take it with me. I'll seran wrap the top to make evap as close to zero as possible, and my lights are already on a timer. Let me know if you guys foresee any problems with this idea
