WalrusKisses
As I move more into SPS, it seems like many require randomized, strong flow, and I doubt I'm getting that with my Koralia240 and MJ900. So is a wave controller entirely necessary? And are there any reputable ones besides the VorTechs? One with the controller would cost more than my tank did... Link to comment
Sunar357
A 'must'? I wouldn't say so as i've kept them with just a lot of flow before in a Biocube 14G. Jebao is supped to be working on a WP-10 which i'm thinking will be perfect for small tanks though and i'd keep my eyes open for one in the future. Link to comment
Toprharley
I have the Hydor Wakemaker Controller running two 425 Koralia Nanos in my 29g tall. Ever since I bought the Wavemaker, my corals have really opened up. I only have one acro and one birdsnest frag, so far so good. They are both alive. I haven't had them long enough to tell their growth. I personally like the look of my flow alternating in the tank. It looks more random. Link to comment
Tenor
No needs wave maker as long as you have good circulation current in your tank for sps Link to comment
dixiedog
So is a wave controller entirely necessary? Nope. Link to comment
Seamonkey84
Not a must have, but really helps. Branching Sps growth pattern is determined by flow rate and direction. So if you want more uniform growth and polyp extension, flow in all directions is recomended. Link to comment
WalrusKisses
Hmm, well I should probably get another 240 then, as I feel that my flow is a little lopsided. I only have the one, and perhaps if I can find one for cheap, I'll get the Hydor Wavemaker. I always tend to feel that my equipment is a little inadequate when looking at others' tanks Wallet envy I guess, lol. Link to comment
