thats total bummer! you should look into "lifenet" a clear perforated cover made by "Pico Aquariums" a sponsor here on the board. Lets light in and keeps fish from getting out :)

Do you not test at all ? If so,what do you test for ?

For 8 month-just once(Kh,Ca,Mg) and start to dose RS A,B & C

After shrimp death I was advised to test for kalium and Ph swings

I would think for a tank as small as yours you'd probably want to test for everything just to be on the safe side.

i never test my 0.9g sps tank....never have, i use the corals health as an indicator and use large water changes to manage chemistry

For as small as it is it wouldn't take but a piece of small clear plastic or acrylic w/ some hole perforations for gas exchange. That still stinks though. I had to put wedding veil material w/ a rubber band 2 days ago around my internal overflow- my 6 line jumped in and was then in the outer overflow box! Luckily my friend w/ small hands got him out. You just never know.

may be I really need to test and find out why my sexy shrimp died.and try again :)

or...aclimating and bump in baby guppy or molly

What a beautiful set. Each on it's own but then together what a treat!

You just show the wonderful diversity these tanks and your imagination have.
