jbb Posted September 21, 2013 Author Share Posted September 21, 2013 SO , I have been fighting SOOOOOOPER low ALK lately , and As most of you know I have been using Seachem Aquavitro Salinity . A few months back I had low Mag issues (1020 if I remember correctly) , and that was confirmed by LFS. I did contact seachem , and they offered to test a sample of my salt compared to their results of the same batch. Due to the small amount of salt left in the bucket , I just figured it might be "end of bucket" syndrome , and I refused their offer. *NO HARM, NO FOUL* BUT My newer bucket was testing great on the Mag (within range of the label) so , being stupid I never tested anything else. BIG MISTAKE I have been fighting ALK levels for quite a while ~6dKH , and no matter how much I dose , nothing seems to be getting me to where I need to be. SO I finally had the jeanyus idea of testing a new batch of water . RESULTS : 5.16 dKH !!!! (Hanna) so , I take a sample of water to the LFS, and they are testing between 5 & 6 (multiple tests w/ Salifert & Hanna) TONIGHT I am happy to report that my current tests of new water read : 1.026 , 11.2 , 460 , 1340 the solution : back to Reef Crystals , and have a few crown & coke to celebrate Now , maybe I can quit chasing my parameters .
