raiderpower
I got these from PEA the first day they posted the new aquacultured ones. Tank has been established 3 years. Have a crocea over 2 years in this tank with great success. I am worried because the mantle of one doesn't open fully to cover his new growth. Let me know what you think. They have been in the tank for about 2 weeks. This was right after a snail bothered it. It fully closed then opened completely. Next clam. Notice the right top of the clam. Mantle Isn't fully extended and hasn't since I got him. Link to comment
PacificEastAquaculture
Look perfectly normal. Some of the small cultured clams do not fully cover the rapidly growing shell. Link to comment
ZephNYC
Raider, I am curious to know the current condition of this clam. We have been working with several of Dr. Macs farmed clams with mixed results. SOme growing and some have perished. However the larger ones are all doing perfect. Link to comment

Where have you heard or experienced mixed results? All I have of my baby maxima is the stock pic. I can't quite photograph the color the way PEA did. How are yours doing? Link to comment
ZephNYC
We lost one of the farm raised Maximas, but all others are doing very well. It's not uncommon to lose small clams, they definitely have a high mortality rate - so Im not tripping over it. The larger ones are all doing extremely well ( knock on wood). Link to comment
