Squared
Or else what? do share pics of you fw set ups, i was seriously considering a high-tech planted, but i never went through with it. would like to see what yours look like. Quote Link to comment
Spencer7
Low tech, both 15 mins of care a week, will post them on other thread... Quote Link to comment
Spencer7
Can't wait to get some different bulbs! Anthias are all aggressively eating and everyone is swimming around fine, as I expected there is a lot of fighting and a hierarchy has been established. The biggest female has asserted herself and looks like she will become a male. The 2 smallest will either live forever on the outskirts, bulk up and join the herd, or die. Leaving me with a nice strong trio. We shall see Quote Link to comment
Spencer7
Just added one of these to my fuge in my sump... Belonepterygion fasciolatum They are super super reclusive, they slink through the rubble and hunt at night. Don't like flow or tank mates really. Fuge is perfect environment for them, the red light might actually help me see him according to this article. I will not see him often but this fish is soooo cool and we only get them in every 6 months or so. I will get a pic one of these days, Phosphate tested at .07 which is fine for me considering that I added 5 new fish in the past week, haven't done a water change since then, plus I'm feeding a lot b/c they're anthias. Article Link Skimmer is going nuts with the bioload, good to see Quote Link to comment
Spencer7
Gave tank a proper cleaning and WC Which means photos tomorrow During the time with a clear surface and low water level, I am happy with what I see All fish are fat Meanwhile as expected, the bass is nowhere to be seen Quote Link to comment

Spencer7
The next shoot will be exactly 10 days from now, for the 70th day FTS, I'll try a few top down shots as well. You can see why I really want some diff. bulbs, I have a lot of blue and white light but no actinics or anything to make the colors pop, plus I haven't started dosing, anything. O: I ordered four bulbs to sample, also considering this upgrade to go replace the par 38's, I think some corals are bleaching due to so much light. The worst thing is that they are growing and have just enough color to let me know its there. I'm sure the phosphates, flow, and the light (does and doesn't) do help a little with the color.25 Days from the last FTS, 60 Days old total. IGNORE THE LINKS, THEY POPPED UP AFTER EDITING! enjoy.http://s1116.photobucket.com/user/SpenceDaFence/media/June%2019th/file_zps94bb7a30.jpg.html]http://s1116.photobucket.com/user/SpenceDaFence/media/June%2019th/file_zps04717e41.jpg.html]http://s1116.photobucket.com/user/SpenceDaFence/media/June%2019th/file_zpse21ea26e.jpg.html]http://s1116.photobucket.com/user/SpenceDaFence/media/June%2019th/file_zps03463a54.jpg.html]http://s1116.photobucket.com/user/SpenceDaFence/media/June%2019th/file_zps2387a362.jpg.html]http://s1116.photobucket.com/user/SpenceDaFence/media/June%2019th/file_zpsd53b3a04.jpg.html]http://s1116.photobucket.com/user/SpenceDaFence/media/June%2019th/file_zpsc37a219f.jpg.html]http://s1116.photobucket.com/user/SpenceDaFence/media/June%2019th/file_zpsf4abf1e2.jpg.html]http://s1116.photobucket.com/user/SpenceDaFence/media/June%2019th/file_zpse8c5069e.jpg.html]http://s1116.photobucket.com/user/SpenceDaFence/media/June%2019th/file_zpsb52aed79.jpg.html]http://s1116.photobucket.com/user/SpenceDaFence/media/June%2019th/file_zps542b1644.jpg.html]http://s1116.photobucket.com/user/SpenceDaFence/media/June%2019th/file_zps7d4a5130.jpg.html]http://s1116.photobucket.com/user/SpenceDaFence/media/June%2019th/file_zps1e4dedca.jpg.html]http://s1116.photobucket.com/user/SpenceDaFence/media/June%2019th/file_zps8898c4da.jpg.html]http://s1116.photobucket.com/user/SpenceDaFence/media/June%2019th/file_zps3a5bb345.jpg.html]http://s1116.photobucket.com/user/SpenceDaFence/media/June%2019th/file_zpsbe8e2932.jpg.html]http://s1116.photobucket.com/user/SpenceDaFence/media/June%2019th/file_zps7496bb75.jpg.html]http://s1116.photobucket.com/user/SpenceDaFence/media/June%2019th/file_zps273d53bd.jpg.html]http://s1116.photobucket.com/user/SpenceDaFence/media/June%2019th/file_zpsd28e4959.jpg.html]http://s1116.photobucket.com/user/SpenceDaFence/media/June%2019th/file_zps5ed1d126.jpg.html]http://s1116.photobucket.com/user/SpenceDaFence/media/June%2019th/file_zps2c576a69.jpg.html]http://s1116.photobucket.com/user/SpenceDaFence/media/June%2019th/file_zps4cb0dd7b.jpg.html]When it rains, it pours 1 Quote Link to comment

Squared
Very nice update! Love the fish and SPS. Yes plz do something about that light, it's so white it's blinding me through the computer screen ...hey...why so much sand? Quote Link to comment
Spencer7
This tank is looking really nice! Love those anthius. What's you feeding schedule for them? Well my ANTHIAS lol get fed once a day, which sounds kinda sucky but they seem happy and healthy (even with the civil war). One of the biggest things, is that I use the same food for the FW tank and everyone loves/can eat it. I feed pellets once every 4 days or so, break them in half with my fingers. Every day I feed Nutramar Ova and Masago fish eggs (sushi grade ) I find that plain mysis has no nutritional value, plus it is very wasteful as they wouldn't eat a whole cube Cyclopeeze is normally another menu item, but I ran out 2 months ago and have been lazy When I do it I drop a hold the frozen bit of Ova and the wrasse picks at it from my hand, I overfeed like crazy What's nice is the Ova flies all over the water column for over a minute and everyone can see it and eat it, they go nuts Then the fish eggs are very fatty and yummy, neutral buoyancy keeps them at feeding level as well The skimmer goes nuts and has been doing a great job with the extra food, same with my acan They're Bartletts if anyone was curious A very interesting observation I had was that the wrasse started getting ick extremely bad overnight and it wold fade, then go extremely bad. All the while he was super healthy, strong swimmer, and greedily ate a diet of 90% spectrum pellets (like big ones 4 a day) Since he liked them so much and the spectrum pellets are actually quite healthy and have a lot of vitamins I kept feeding them Plus it was easy to just to have the jar on the stand and chuck a few in as I walked by. This went on for 2 weeks before I tried changing the diet, he was cured instantly, and I haven't seen a spot since LEARN FROM THIS Very nice update! Love the fish and SPS. Yes plz do something about that light, it's so white it's blinding me through the computer screen ...hey...why so much sand? 60lbs After rinsing it probably lost a few, the sand is that thick, look by the acan colony in the FTS for a reference on how much Just like 1.75" avg, but the MP40 blows the sand (it stays still with that topography but if I move it... I don't mind it, plus every time I do a WC I suck out a bit, which I accounted for BTW, you'll notice the 3rd par 38 is off and that is cuz I decided it was more detrimental to the SPS 6 inches away than beneficial to the pieces 16 inches away. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Here is the lighting upgrade I mentioned/proposed. You all know and recognize ecoxotic, hard to really go wrong with them... 1.0reef
Very nice, but for pop 1 magenta/RB and 1 "UV" (Actually tv)/RB will bring out even MOAR COLORZ I like the planted They are nice, I just got some plants for mine Quote Link to comment
Spencer7
Can you give me a link to the UV, are you talking about the T5 bulb or is this in LED form? I am ordering a 4 bulb sampler of diff. Exotic colors The fish in the FW btw are a mated pencil fish pair, a sparkling gourami, a black phantom tetra, and a cherry barb. I put more in but the tank doesn't get much love... ReefRockerLive
A good progression thus far...but the FW tank looks to be over shadowing your build. Quote Link to comment
Spencer7
So one of the anthias that got picked on for being little, started to hide more, and the same one who during the last water change seemed a bit more stressed than the others, has the beginnings of a pop eye. To my knowledge it is a stress related issue that anthias are very susceptible to, he is still eating. I have had no deaths of coral or fish in this tank and want to keep it that way, what do I do? Most likely will he lose any eye? Quote Link to comment
Spencer7
Please help ^ I might try and get a rhomboid for this tank, also have a joculator I could get tomorrow (eating) I want something rare, not red colored, that will complete my tank I don't want basslets or small grouping fish, I want something most would consider risky (tang, butterfly, angel, cool wrasse, etc.) Problem above first however Quote Link to comment

Giga
Very nice tank, can't wait for an update Quote Link to comment
Spencer7
Lol, me too. I am waiting to do the FTS and photoshoot because I know that with the T5's, LED's, and additives the tank will be sooo much colorful and nicer. Few more days Perseverance Quote Link to comment
Squared
Get that anthias into QT. And google the disease and look for answers...I think it's bacterial, and needs to be treated with medication. How long has it been since you saw your wrasse with ich? Are you 100% positive it was sand? If you can get a joculator angel I would FREAKING GET IT. Those are like the crown jewel of dwarf angels! (except for the interrupta or peppermint, of course...) *BUT* your tank seems very bright and has few caves and overhangs. I can see that stressing the angel out. Are joculators deep water, actually? I'm not sure. Quote Link to comment
Spencer7
I don't have a QT, pop eye is pretty common and if it's possible you normally take the fish out and pop the eye with a needle. Joculators are deep water, the one we have has been in a lit 10g for over a month, eating and looking fine My biggest fear is with it picking on my corals and clam. Quote Link to comment
Squared
I think you'll be fine. Joculators are one of the more reef safe dwarf angels, like flames and cherubs. Whenever any of my fish start looking sick, I usually start here: http://www.chucksaddiction.com/disease.html check out what it says about pop eye. Quote Link to comment
Spencer7
Interesting, I will look into my water quality. Last time I checked it was .05 PO4 and 5 NO3 which is pretty good. 1 Quote Link to comment
Squared
Water sounds fine...is this the anthias you said was being singled out? Quote Link to comment
Spencer7
To a degree yes, like I said I see it more as a stress issue We'll see how it works out. Wouldn't be surprised if he/she just ends up missing one eye for the rest of its life. Quote Link to comment
