Lighting is 8 3ups on two separate 6"makers led heatsinks ran on two separate led drivers in a diy driver box with two pots to control color blending. I plan on adding a few different color spectrums as my lighting needs progress. As of now its just rocks macro and softies in the tank so the current set up handles pretty well, most important of all, no disco. I have both hestsinks tied together using 1" sqare aliminum tubing as bracing to hold them evenly apart over the tank.I built the stand and canopy using pine and stainless steel screws and hardware. I used 10 pounds of fiji ultra and 20 pounds of Florida uncured rock from gulfliverock.com to cycle. I will edit this post with monthly tank shots for documentation purposes. The current stand and canopy should work since the footprint is the same. I just gotta find somewhere to drill it.

Im excited because the taller dimensions will allow for much more diversity in coral and fish. I will need to up my led count to get the punch I'll need to grow stuff on the sandbed but that's all in good time.

I had my BC29 that I took down and transferred to a 46 bowfront that I loved. The brace popped so I bought a 40B during the $ per gal sale. Good tank, but I liked the deeper depth of the 46. Nice job on the lighting btw.

I'm still just finding out all it can do but im happy with color renderring and close ups. I just got every thing transferred over and heading to the movies while it settles out. I'm already loving the taller look. It has lots of open space for open swimmers.

I just tossed the rock in kinda crudely and am not satisfied with it so I'll rescape once things settle a bit. I first heard the dollar per gallon sale was going on and I thought 40br for sure but I just spent so much time and money on this stand and canopy that this tank only made sense. I'm loving the fact it's the same footprint as th 20l but offers so much more viewing area.

I wish I had morecash to pick up some sweet lps but I'm not sure if the sale is sstill on today. Anyways this lemon peel is wife aproved and should detur me from going sps and dropping tons of cash in the future. He's so fast it's so hard to get a decent pic but here it is chilling with a homey!
neuwave Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Nice lemon peel. But fortunley dwarf angels go fairly well with sps. If not fed enough they can go after other foods such as lps, mainly acans. Remember though if fed well the chances of it picking on anything is reduced imenssley.
gulfsurfer101 Posted January 3, 2013 Author Posted January 3, 2013 Yeah I feed twice daily and there's tons of macro all over the gulf rocks and I have more growing out in my tiny fuge. I do plan on making a bigger sump with a larger grow out area for different macros. A well balanced diet between meat and vegitation should keep it from tearing up any coral.

I had a nice collection in my ap24 but they melted away when my timer stuck when I was working out of town. I'm gonna try to stick with palys and lps for a while then toss in a nice bta and a school of clowns.

I noticed him floating around the sandbed when I got in today so I tested my water which I hardly ever do. Parameters are as follows:Ph=8.2Nitrate=<10Dkh=7Phos=0Calc=300I had no amonia test on hand. I have one burried in a box somewhere in my garage I didn't feel like searching for. I'm going to sum it up as to being the only petco fish in my tank and was doomed from the getgo!On a good note I have noticed my first signs of natural reproduction in my tank. It's a good sign that things are doing well.

I got shipping conformation today along with another email from customer care over at Steve's Leds informing me that they decided to throw in a moonligting kit at no extra cost along with other miscalleanous freebies. I'm so excited I can't wait. Free stuff is the best stuff!

I got the new tv's and rb's wired in and my moonlight kit glued down to a piece og aluminum square tubing. I also touched up on the scape to give the tank a bit more character and to utilize the height of the tank. There's a lot more caves and holes for fish to swim and hide.

I also ordered a bunch of new zoas to seed my tank with so if all goes well with the vendor, I should have some stuff in my tank soon other than rocks. I'm pretty excited about that.

I swapped out the mini 5.5 fuge I had in place for standard 10g aga and that may have been the cause of it. The 5.5 I had used as a sump in now my new coral qt and is sunlit till my order from Steve's leds comes in sometime next week.
