juliantheriot20 Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 for 20 gallon tall what aquaclear do yall suggest 70 , 110 going to mod into refugium
jbb Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 110 has much more room , and would add some nice flow.
juliantheriot20 Posted December 28, 2012 Author Posted December 28, 2012 researching a whole lot thx for input julian how about good powerhead and skimmer for skimmer iwas thinkin bout reef octopus bh1000...any good? what would be the best powerhead for a 20tall?
Acielot Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 I use an 800gph powerhead in the back right corner facing the front and it is perfect for softies that in combination with the ac110 on the left hand would create a strong flow that is still gentle enough to not damage coral.
juliantheriot20 Posted December 28, 2012 Author Posted December 28, 2012 looking to do hard and soft would back corner facing front still b good?
ecajoe Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 There is a mod to fit a tunze 9002 into a 110
Acielot Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 looking to do hard and soft would back corner facing front still b good? If you mean SPS hard corals that is not the right flow. The way my water flows lifts particles off my corals poyps and keeps everything gently swaying. SPS like it rough I believe
juliantheriot20 Posted December 28, 2012 Author Posted December 28, 2012 ill try what you said and c if it works only want a few pieces of hard frags saw good ratings on reef octopus bh1000 would like to hear a lil more before i buy another question what would be best to run in a aquaclear 110 modd
StevieT Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 There is a mod to fit a tunze 9002 into a 110 There is a media basket that can do this
Kfmmartin19 Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 There is a media basket that can do this There's a media basket for everything.
Cesar Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 I used a AC70 on my 20 many years ago and had great success. The 110 might be a little over kill.
ecajoe Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 Take the ac 110 and if it flows to much cut down the impeller also found as a fuge under 10 gallon is ok. To hold a 9002 go to mediabaskets look up aqua clear 110
AirportFF Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 I have an AC70 on my 20l with the StevieT media basket. I have the flow on the lowest setting and two Koralia nano 240 pumps. What I found is the water from the ac70 rolls down the front glass and was digging quite a whole in the sand. I pointed one of the 240's in the left front corner up and toward the front to break that rolling motion up. It's working out great so far
Trogdor447 Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 I would always go bigger if your budget permits it. You will never regret a larger purchase. And Stevies media baskets are money
juliantheriot20 Posted December 28, 2012 Author Posted December 28, 2012 media baskets are alot better than a mod lazer cut and fit perfect thx for the info what would u guys run in the ac110 media basket im thinkin chemipure elite, purigen and a big chunk of chaeto i'm always up for suggestions thx julian would like the tunze but want to keep as much room in filter as possible.. what is a good hob skimmer for 20 tall?
ecajoe Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 Well you think the cheato can pull out more then the tunze could
Veng Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 I had an AC70 on a 10G. I always wished I had gone 110. There's no question on a 20H I'd go 110.
juliantheriot20 Posted December 29, 2012 Author Posted December 29, 2012 Well you think the cheato can pull out more then the tunze could im also gettin a reef octopus bh1000 thx for all your advice also preciate it
ecajoe Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 Word macro algae will export nutrients but won't help keep them down
ecajoe Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 It makes good sense in a small set up a good skimmer will pull more then a small ball of cheato
ecajoe Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 I think you need like one square foot of fuge per 20 gall of water
juliantheriot20 Posted December 31, 2012 Author Posted December 31, 2012 im also gettin a reef octopus bh1000 thx for all your advice also preciate it going to have this plus the ac110 with chaeto, chemipure elite, and purigen, prolly a sack of phosguard also
dtitus1 Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 I always see people talking about these media baskets but how the heck do you actually get them?
