jpc763
I have a Steve's LED upgrade kit for my Bio Cube. Step 1 is to gut the old hood. The following steps involve drilling mounting holes, mouting leds and soldering up the kit. The final step is to put the retro into the hood. My problem is that you need to wait 12-48 hours between glueing down the LEDs and soldering them which means that I will have to remove the hood of my tank for 1 - 3 days. Does anyone know the hole pattern for the Coralife Biocube hood? I asked Steve's on Christmas and again today but have not heard anything. I assume he is taking time off for the holidays. Thanks, John Link to comment
sammy113
You're waiting 24-48 hours for the led glue to set? I glue my LEDs and after 10 minutes i'm soldering them Link to comment
jedimasterben
Get the LEDs on the heatsink and soldered together before you put them in the hood. Link to comment
jpc763
You're waiting 24-48 hours for the led glue to set? I glue my LEDs and after 10 minutes i'm soldering them From the install guide: "Wait 12 hours minimum once all of the LEDs have been mounted before proceeding. The one part adhesive takes 48 hours to cure completely, however, if you are gentle, we have had good results after waiting only 12 hours." Get the LEDs on the heatsink and soldered together before you put them in the hood. I will for sure completely mount and solder prior to putting in the hood. The problem I am trying to avoid is mounting a LED in the place where I need to drill a mounting hole through the heatsink. In order to get the hole pattern, I need to gut my hood unless someone or Steve's has the moutning pattern. Thanks! john Link to comment
AlanM
He just answered the question I submitted yesterday, so I bet he took at least a couple days around Christmas off and is working his way through the emails now. Link to comment
MeepNand
Put the sink together, mark the places where it will be secured to the hood, then mount and solder the leds. Link to comment
jpc763
I got a response from Steve. Only way to mark the heat sink is with the old guts removed. I plan on removing the guts, marking the heatsink and then putting the guts back together. Thanks for your help. J Link to comment
