nanoreef-R Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 I'm thinking of setting up a JBJ 3 Gallon pico and I have the choice between a 9 or 18 Watt LED fixture. I plan to keep a mixed tank. I have never used LED lighting before and I was wondering wether 18 Watts would result in bleaching from my LPS or if they would be fine. Thanks in advance
Salty_Snack Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 +1. and more info on the LPS and the depth of the tank and depth of the coral from the top of the water. If the coral is <6" below the surface, 18W is going to be a lot of light.
nanoreef-R Posted December 18, 2012 Author Posted December 18, 2012 Cheap Aquatraders LED pendant with 6x1W 10K and 3x1W Actinic or 4x3W 10K and 2x3W Actinic. I'm thinking of adding a Frogspawn or a Torch, definitely placed within 6 inches of the light...
ajkochev Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 I would go with three Ecoxotic Blue/White Pico Strips. Set them up in my 5 gallon and they are awesome.
hawks66 Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 or could get one panorama pro for the same price? less power cords and dimmers required. might be a bit long?
nanoreef-R Posted December 19, 2012 Author Posted December 19, 2012 That light sounds absolutely terrible Sure, but I've used aqua traders in the past and never had any problem. We'll see what happens. I would go with three Ecoxotic Blue/White Pico Strips. Set them up in my 5 gallon and they are awesome. Thanks for the idea. I'll look into these.
