Reef Breeders
We got our first one in a week ago, and are loving it! Our electrician dissected it, and gave it a full electrical inspection, and was very impressed. The drivers are all on one single circuit board, in an anodized aluminum case. The fixture has 2 silent cooling fans, and has remained cool even after running for 24 hours. The most unique part of these fixtures is the hybrid board, which contains both cree LEDs for the royal blues and cool whites, and bridgelux LEDs for the deep reds, greens, cyans, blues, and violets.(10 Cree XP-G 7500K cool whites, 10 Cree XP-E 450nm royal blues, 3 660nm reds, 3 490nm cyans, 3 420nm violets) The whites, royal blues, and bridgelux colors each have their own dimmer, for unparalleled color control. Each fixture consumes only about 90 watts at max power, making them a very energy efficient solution for lighting a reef tank. I hung the sample over a 40 breeder, and it cover that well, however these fixtures do best covering a 24" area. The Cree LEDs have 90 degree optics, and the bridgelux have 120 degree optics. These fixtures are now up for pre-order for only $249 shipped, making them one of the most affordable hybrid fixtures on the market. They start shipping in 2 weeks, just in time for christmas, and to celebrate their release, we will start them out at 10% off, or only $225 shipped! eddiecorrea
I'm curious why you would delete my post? Aesthetics are a major issue with lighting. While I'm sure this light performs it isn't exactly sleek or inconspicuous. What are the chances of getting this slimmed down some? Link to comment
gonzalez78
I for one like it, too bad it's not enough light for my 40B. I know it will cover it but I would like better coverage. I can retrofit it into my hanging canopy and you won't see it's size. Link to comment

Then make the case alittle thinner and even wider would make it look less bulky, Link to comment

But for others that just like to hang the light fixture like you then yes I would agree with making it more sleek. Link to comment
TeflonTomDosh
I personally think it's pretty sexy and it has ONE cord coming from it. The controller box would look just fine in any stand I've ever seen. Link to comment

We accept constructive criticism, but you posted an insult based only on opinion, and it detracted from the thread. I for one like it, too bad it's not enough light for my 40B. I would not use it on a 36" tank full of sps, but they are doing fine in the middle. Bulky cable and bulky looking case. You could probably make the cable smaller and come out the top to accommodate hanging. Then make the case alittle thinner and even wider would make it look less bulky,It looks a little bulky in the pictures, but it is very small in reality, perhaps it is the ratio that makes it look odd. I will ask our engineer. I personally think it's pretty sexy and it has ONE cord coming from it. The controller box would look just fine in any stand I've ever seen. Thanks! 1 Link to comment

Reef Breeders
is there a kit avaiable to link two of these together? I'm current shopping for lighting for a 36" cubeno, they each need separate power supplies. The linking is usually just for the 120volt input. Link to comment

Reef Breeders
Also, we have clear acrylic mounting legs being built right now for those interested. They will cost between $20 and $50 a set, and black or white will also be available. Link to comment
