ASERT
So I'm going to be setting up a 25G cube. I'm planning on using about 25 lbs of live rock and a 3-4 in DSB. I won't have a sump or a HOB refugium because I'm limited to room. However I will be using a HOB AquaC Remora Protien Skimmer. My question is, will that be enought filtration? I'm planning on doing a 10-15% water change every week as well. Thanks... Link to comment
brad908
Can you fit an AC50 or 70 to run Purigen and chemipure elite? Link to comment
ASERT
I believe I can fit one. Just might pick one up. So by adding an AC70 would you say it would be enough filtration for the system? Like recommended above I will put Purigen and ChemiPure Elite.. Link to comment
brad908
I don't run a sump or anything and I keep SPS and everything just fine. I use an AC50 with Purigen and chemipure elite and do 5 gallon water changes once a week. 17 gallon tank. Link to comment
mpg732
Water parameters and lighting will be a bigger factor on keeping coral then your filtration. Link to comment
ASERT
Thanks I'll try just that then.. Reason I have an AquaC Remora in mind is because I have a spare. For flow I will be using a MP10 and light eventually upgrade to LED fixture. I'm thinking a Kessil pendant.. I'm downgrading from a 40G breeder to a 25G cube.. Keeping all my corals and like 2-3 fish.. Reason is I am moving... Link to comment
jan_16hk
Water parameters and lighting will be a bigger factor on keeping coral then your filtration. Your water parameters depend on your stocking, husbandry and "filtration"..... Link to comment
calabdiver
I have basically done this will lots of success. I have a AP 24 I run nothing but the HOB protein skimmer and the return pump. I do a 5 gallon a week water change and have had excellent results. However I do have 30+ lbs of LR and 20 lbs of LS that also act as biological filtration. The key is to no skimp out on you water changes and you should do well. Link to comment
Veng
You will have to do weekly water changes (you might think about 15-20%) and keep doing them. And keep doing them. And keep doing them. The problems will start after 3 months when you start skipping them. Link to comment
--chris--
I've been sumpless with even less rock (about 10 lbs) for a few years. no real problem as long as you keep up on your water changes. Link to comment
