jacketherington
I have read about bicolor blennies picking at corals. Is that common among all blennies? My tank is too small for a bicolor anyway, but is the tailspot blenny safe? Thanks Link to comment
nystang
I can't speak about tailspot but I have Midas Blenny and Forktail Blenny and none of them is picking on corals. Link to comment
Walker
My tailspot has been a model citizen. Link to comment
noirsphynx
My tailspot has been a model citizen. +1 had one for several years in a mixed reef and it has behaved itself. Link to comment
heifinator
I have a tail spot (cutest fish ever). He grazes all the time, picking at the rock. I could see how some may go for corals, he tends to stick with the rock though. Tiny fish, doubt he could do any real damage even if they occasionally nipped a coral. Blennys are up there with the best reef citizens you can get. Link to comment
jacketherington
Thar is great news! Thanks everyone. They are some of my favorite fish. Link to comment
fwadiver
doubt they are actually picking at corals, more likely picking at algea around corals, I have never seen a blenny that wasnt an excellent citizen, my tailspot used to defend my hectors goby from my royal gramma. Link to comment
jacketherington
One more question. Since they are grazers, should I wait to add one until the tank has been well established for 6 months or so? Or can I supplement with something? The tank isn't even cycling yet, I'm just trying to do as much research as I can before I get into this. I am planning to get everything going this weekend. Link to comment
fwadiver
they do like grazing, but I had one in my tank pretty much a week after it was cycled, he ate flake food, but really looked fat and happy once i had my gha bloom Link to comment
