Alarms going off, heart pounding, hands sweating!!! How can this be??? I looked at the tank... fish are swimming, clams a chilling, all corals soaking in the light... I was like WTF??

So... I pulled out the test kits to test against what I was seeing on my apex. Weird Its showing my ph @ 8.15

hmmm must be faulty time to pull out another test kit! Tested and same level... Ok I thought... I wonder if the probe is getting interference from something?

I moved the probe and low and behold all went back to normal... Man!! What a scare!!

I thought I share this experience with everyone to let everyone know not to just trust their state of the art equipment! Try and always double check! :)

FYI here is a pic of my tank :)

Yes, I know the color is over exposed :( Dang Iphone 5. Any tricks to taking good pics with phones?

Also, remember that the probes need calibrated regularly.

Yeah, iPhones auto adjust white balance, but they do a poor job with reef lighting. If you are able to turn off the blue/actinic lights you'll get a better picture. Sometimes I just shut off all the lights and that allows certain shots to look better.

Since the phone actually adjusts the white balance, there should be an app that will allow you to control it better. However, when I look a year or so ago, there wasn't anything decent available.
