I remember when I first started this hobby I was in my LFS, which is a good one, and I asked about cleaning/vacuuming the sand bed. They said they don't touch it. So from that point on I decided to do the same. Guess my snails do enough stirring. 2 cents. W- Link to comment

I have 3 hermit crabs and 1 narcissus snail... but he doesn't seem to stray to far away from on spot in the middle of the tank... I'm thinking about adding some more pebble-ish substrate to the sand bed... allow for more air flow perhaps (vs pure sand)... thoughts? Link to comment

Maybe beef up your CUC. I keep mine fairly heavy. And when they die off I just replace from reefcleaners.org. Pretty cheap for a small CUC. And John always throws in extras! Link to comment
