Here is a list of common abreviations used in reefing in no particular order.

SW: Salt water

W/C: Water Change

PH, Ph, pH: Percent Hydroxide, a measure of alkaline/ acid ballance of water.

 

NACL: Salt

NOH3/NH4+: Ammonia

NO2: Nitrite

NO3-: Nitrate

H2SO4: Hydrogen sulfide gas

O3: Ozone

NRS: Natural Reef System

Sp. : Species

HOB: Hang On Back

NBP: Natural Biological Process

PS: Protien Skimmer

PH: Power Head

U/V: Ultra Violet light (usualy in the form of a sterilizer filter)

 

AGA: All Glass Aquarium

SG: Specific Gravity

NOW: Natural Ocean Water

MM: Marine Mix

RODI: Reverse Osmossis / DeIonized Water

CA: Calcium

LFS: Local Fish Store

LS: Live Sand

LR: Live Rock

BR: Base Rock

FO: Fish Only

FOWLR: Fish Only With Live Rock tank.

SPS: Small Polyp Stony coral

LPS: Large Polyp Stony Coral

GSP: Green Star Polyps

Frag: Fragment of a parent coral or a small piece.

UGF: Under Gravel Filter

DSB: Deep Sand Bed

UTS: Under Tank Sump

DOS: Disolved Orgainc Solids

TDS: Total Disolved Solids

ORP: Oxidation Reduction Percetage ( disolved orgainc breakdown time)

BTA: Bubble Tip Anemone

 

MH: Metal Halide Lighting

PC: Power Compact

VHO: Very High Output lighting

HO: High Output

NO: Normal Output

Ick: Cryptocaryon Irritans Paracite (or ich)

YGM: You Got Mail

PM: Private Message

IM: Instant Message

AR: Anal Retentive

 

HOT: Hang On Tank

TM: Tropic Marin salt

IO: Instant Ocean salt

FW: Fresh Water

CF: Compact Fluorescent

Ca: Calcium

SG: Specific Gravity (more commonly abbreviated in lowercase)

[#'s]: Pounds ie: live rock or sand

GH: General Hardness

KH: Carbonate Hardness mEq/l:
