I could use some advice on a RO/DI unit. I am working with very limited funds and would like to know how cheap I can o on this.

Can I get a bare bones RO unit and leave the DI out? Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks,

Mike

it depends on the original source water. try the ro and test the results. if they're still looking scary then tack on the di. some people have just the right mix for whatever they're raising (i.e. wellwater for cichlids and unpolluted nsw for reefs).

You can normally pick up RO/DI from your LFS for about $0.25-0.50 a gallon, so this is probably the cheapest way to go!! Also your local grocery store will probably sell RO/DI water... I wait until my local store has a sale (which they do often) and pick up the water for about $0.50/gallon... So if you are truely short on funds, and your pockets look like my pockets after I have paid for housing and college :) then this deal will probably appeal to you too, lol!
