on an eclipse system is it ok to start out with just the regular filter for the circulation period and add other equipment later during the period?

for a cycle with LR, yes. Problem is when you go to upgrade lighting retro is a biatch. If you haven't bought it, don't. If you have it have fun with tearing the guts out to fit your lighting. Or better yet take the top off and throw a pendant on it.

Also the eclipses are cheap plastic and not acrlyic and scratch easily.
