JSB
Several people have commented very positively about how the AquaClear surface skimmer has taken the protein film off the top of their water. I am in the process of planning a 10G tank and am planning on building a refugium that will go alongside the tank. I plan on using a powerhead to put water into the refugium, that will then overflow back into the tank. What I'm wondering about is the feasability of using a powerhead to pull water through the AC surface skimmer and then feed it into the refugium, as opposed to using a HOB filter to pull water through the surface skimmer. Anyone out there with the surface skimmer think this could be rigged up? I'm almost willing to buy the thing and try it out, given that it's only $10, but would like to know in advance, as it may impact how I construct the hood. Link to comment
Tempest
If it can be done then you're gonna need to get tubing that will be able to connect the PH to the skimmer. The skimmers are built to attach to either the AC 150 or 300 intake pipe. Link to comment
daFrimpster
I have one attached to my HOB. My HOB isn't an Aquaclear but the surface skimmer came with a couple adapters and I was able to make it work. Dependant on your PH I would bet it would work with a bit of creative thought. It sure is nice to have a scum free tank surface! Link to comment
