The only pic you're going to get is my avatar, of which I uploaded myself. Fully clothed, so no amature porn here. Now get back to the fish crap! lol.

Okay, so .. i was googling heaters, and i noticed they say a lot fry your fish because they dont monitor the water temp right.. Eek! Any suggestions for an affordable heater that is good? I was looking at the Hydor Theo 50W, as they say its shock proof, and i can put it under the bottom & cover it... any reviews on this product? Any suggestions? I got crushed coral today for the bottom. going to buy the rest of what i need slowly, and then start operation, and see how the coral works as compared to the live sand. I attached a picture because I know you all love pictures! :) ... (yes i did wash the CC first).

I have no water in it yet, just put the coral in, and switched the background to the blue, the tank back has some coral on it got in when i was putting it in. Now no more confusing freshwater background! (I was playing dumb blonde when i realized the background was reversable.. >.< Mah bad.

I've had two Marineland heaters fail and overheat my tank.

I have a Hydor Theo 25w that is more accurate than most. I think the Hydor Theo line of heaters aren't a bad option. Read reviews on Marine Depot and Amazon before you buy. Different wattage heaters sometimes use different internal parts, so it can vary from one to the next.

I would imagine it's out of your budget, but if you can swing it, get a tank controller like a Reef Keeper or an Apex. I have a Reef Keeper Lite on both of my tanks and it does an amazing job of keeping the temperature accurate regardless of what heater you use. I'd still try to get the best quality heater possible regardless of whether you have a tank controller or not.

I wouldn't recommend burying it in the sand. Put it in an area of higher water flow for more consistent temp. Some heaters are not too ugly. If you have a black background, you can get a heater that's black and very hard to see.

Okay, i was thinking of the Hydor, it seems decent. Also, should i put it by the filter? That would make it so it blends in with it sort of, but i don't know if thats a thing to do or not.

Also, for testing... the Tetra 6-in-1 test strips + the ammonia ones, is that okay? Ive used test strips before similar to these for Urinalysis in Medical School, so I know how to read them, etc.
