Reefer_Buddha Posted April 26, 2004 Share Posted April 26, 2004 i run my pcs for 11-12 hours a day and my halide i run for 8. Yesterday (seems like the beginning of summer) it was real hot so i shut off my halides. Probably gona run a 6 hour halide photoperiod now since the seasons changed. If youre concerned about algae then lower your photoperiod. Also check your nitrates and cut back on feeding as much. Algae needs 2 things, light and food. If your fish/cleaner crew isnt eating it all then youre prime for nuisance algae. Also depends on how long your tank has been up. Link to comment
