iPhone
Got a few hundred pounds of this. Was wondering if I can use this in my 93g SPS tank? Or should I go with regular sand? Trying to save as much Money as Possible. Would it cause problems if I use the crushed coral? Link to comment
Euphyllia
It would be fine like that. Just make sure you like it, if not, then go with finer sand. Don't go too fine, I used some sugar sand (more like powdered sugar sand) and it's annoying... Just make sure you like it. As long as its not out of the ocean or something where it could bring in disease to the tank, then you can use it. EDIT: There shouldn't be any drawbacks to using anything as fine as what is in the picture, other than it may occasionally clog easier when siphoning. You start having drawbacks when you have like 1/8" pieces or 1/4" pieces, possibly even bigger. That will just clog up with debris. But what you're going to use looks just fine to me. Link to comment
Mini-Dude
That looks like a doable size grain of CC. If you get any bigger you may have problems with detritus buildup and nitrates. Otherwise, yes. Link to comment
