kimotherapy
I was thinking of setting up a 10 gallon reef and wondering if I need live sand, or if I could just have Dead sand and Live rock. I would be using biological filtration only. Thanks for help. Link to comment
potato
Live rock will do fine with regular sand. The rock will "seed" it with life. Link to comment

NathanF
Got it, but if I may ask why? Because it's likely loaded with a lot of dirt and other bits that you don't want in your tank. Link to comment
