frobart
Does anyone have one of these corals ? I have a JBJ cube with stock setup prus a minijet as extra power I have some shrooms and montiporas. The christmas tree coral only expands for 1-2 hours per day the rest of the time it is contracted to a small ball. I feed flake and phyto several times a week. water params are all good (ca,no3,no2,dhk,ph) I do weekly water changes of 1 gallon with IO reef crystal salt S.G. is 1.024. Do christmas tree corals act this way normally..All ther corals in the tank are doing fine and it is by itself at the bottom of the tank. Do these corals need more light? Link to comment
Aiptasia
Christmas tree corals are very similar to sarchopyhton (leather) corals. They do expand and contract sometimes to rid themselves of algae, etc. but they shouldn't stay contracted 24/7. If your water quality is o.k., the coral will eventually adjust. It takes some corals up to a few weeks to acclimate, so just move it to a low area of the tank that doesn't get as much light and let it sit till it starts to perk up. Link to comment
