sublunary
Wow, I've never seen T. maiandros before. It's gorgeous! I envy everyone who gets fish like that in. I've been begging the LFSs near me to get in some T. tevegae for the past two years and they always look at me like I'm crazy. The rarer small gobies just never seem to make it to NJ. Link to comment
altolamprologus
How are those monti caps doing for you? I hope they're coloring up nicely Link to comment

I might be getting a 20 long that i want to maybe make into a 10 gallon shallow long. Thanks, Luis Thanks... I used a diamond blade on an angle grinder then buffed the edge with several grits(grades) of fine sandpaper(300,600,800,1200 grit). I wouldn't recommend it though...the edges are a bit rough, which doesn't bother me,but probably annoys others...lol Link to comment
Newlinta
Picked this guy up today... Just a quick shot right after I plopped him in the tank. Yellow Devilfish(assessor flavissimus) He's about 1 1/4 inch long. They are supposed to max out at 2-2 1/4 inches. I actually got him for my 15 gallon tank But thought he would look great in here while he grows out. Hopefully he grows up to look something like this... Link to comment
TianTian
Wowee!!! He's cute! Must have FTS with him in there! Link to comment
Newlinta
Wowee!!! He's cute! Must have FTS with him in there! Lol...I'll get some better pics after he settles in for a while. He is eating and slowly exploring his new home...he stays near the front of the tank and darts behind a favorite patch of zoos when startled.I don't think he's gone back past about the center of the tank yet,so he's got alot of discovering to do... Newlinta
Here's a crappy iPhone video of the new guy(assessor flavissimus). He's found some tunnels/small caves in the waterfall rock...loves darting in one and out the other.they must be connected inside the rock,as he can go in any of 5 holes and come out whichever one he choses. He is quickly getting used to motion in the room. It's a very high traffic area with 2 people,6 dogs and 4 cats moving around all day long. He eats just about anything I drop in the tank,as long as it's small enough. Here he is eating a little flake food... http://i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq120/n...ta/e686da62.mp4 Please excuse the "All in the Family" soundtrack(and probably a dog or two)...lol Link to comment
sublunary
Great pick, I love assessors. I almost bought one a few months ago - had to keep reminding myself I don't have enough swimming room (and no bigger tank to move him to later). I'm sad the video won't work for me. I'd love to see it. Link to comment
Newlinta
Not much new...tank is doing well. Acans just ate and are doing well I this tank... And I love this guy...happy all the time... The assessor is doing well...having fun exploring/finding new caves all the time. He's out in the open most of the time...hanging out upside down or vertical alot...lol Eats everything! Love him!! Newlinta
July update(7/1/12) I decided to be "kinder/gentler" and moved the assessor to my 15 gallon. He was replaced with a yellow clown goby and 2 sexy shrimp. Moved some stuff around a little and added a couple more acan lords. I'm pretty happy with the results...we'll see how it grows out, now! July FTS Some random pics... Link to comment
LongPig
Was the rock live when you put it in the tank or did you use dry? If you used live, was there any die off from the exposed rock that affected the tank? Link to comment
Newlinta
More pics... Mangroves are growing roots and leaves... One of the sexy shrimp... Link to comment
Newlinta
The clown goby has been hiding since I put him in on Friday, though I have seen him come out briefly to eat...but haven't been able to get a decent pic of him yet. Here's some fun, oddly exposed actinic shots... Sorry the pics aren't better! I had just finished "playing" in/cleaning the rank when I took them, so a bunch of the corals look a little "upset." If you used live, was there any die off from the exposed rock that affected the tank? I'd say about 80% was dry and the rest live... The chunk on the left(where most of the zoos and Xenia are) And all the pieces in the center/sandy area were live...I did not experience any noticeable die off. Of course alot of dry rock was above the water line, too. Link to comment

Newlinta
Aww!! Gosh I really really love your tank! Mind of I ask what you've spent so far? Thanks! I had the tank and a few other items laying around. I haven't really been keeping track,but...with the filter,2 powerheads, lights, rocks, and livestock...I'd say around $200 or so. Link to comment
Newlinta
The yellow clown goby has been out swimming around through the mangroves today. Watched him chow down on some flake food and snapped a few quick shots... The sexies are all over the tank...lovin' it!! Link to comment
Newlinta
Well, after almost a week in the tank, the clown goby seems pretty comfortable. He spends most of his time hovering around the main open area or in his favorite spot... On the glass right up front/center/top...lol That's pretty amazing considering it's a very high traffic area...there's 6 dogs,2 people and at least 2 cats running around the room constantly! Sexy shrimp and corals are all doing well. I finally zapped that aptasia with boiling water the other day... Haven't seen any signs of it since...let's hope it stays that way! Link to comment
