Pineapple sponges, keep them?

Recommended Posts

My RSM 130 (34 gal) is over four months and has a bazzillion pineapple sponges in the back chambers. Otherwise there is not much junk back there. I did take out my auto top off float and clean them off of it so I wouldn't have a flood.

My question is should I get rid of them when I clean the back chambers or leave them there. I think they eat nitrates and other organics, yes, no???

Keep 'em. Great little filter feeder IMO.

Leave them, they're feeding off your excess nutrients.

This thread was a bit of a help as I had these explode in my tank recently.
