movingshadow
thanks people mattie: you're gonna laugh... I used to use ro/di water for top-off untill I downloaded the water report for my local tap water and tested it... I live close to a natural spring, fed from the alps which is utilized for our drinking water - and the params are near perfect (including ~430ppm calcium) so I've been using tap water for top-off with great success... I'm probably the only one on earth who switched from ro/di to tap and got better results though... Link to comment
onthefly
Tank looks great shadow!!!! How big were those caps when you put them in? You're seriatopora looks about the same color as mine, I've tried everything to get it to become that "hot" pink......keep me posted! Link to comment

movingshadow
thx people the caps are growin' like mad, the left green one is already touching the back glass... I figure thy've grown way more than an inch in 6 months (have had them longer, just never noticed that much...) the orange one was almost pale when I got it, it was at an lfs under NO tubes... rescued that baby and she thanks me with crazy polyp extension and a nice color that came back rather quickly... fly: this might sound silly, but get some blue foil (the type they use for stage lighting) and put that over the glass for the last 1-2 hours of your halides being on. it will look like 20000K lighting, the corals will fluoresce more and they'll get more vibrant colors, I've been doing that for a while in the evenings since my photoperiod is somewhat long, I technically wouldn't need to do so as I supplement actinic, but it's been working for me! trust me, cause I wouln't know how to use photoshop or the like if my life depended on it, thats why I control the graphics department, LOL.
