I've been wanting one of their mushrooms they sell on eBay. The pink frog mushroom. These things are tiny and selling for $50ish plus!!!!! And shipping is outrageous for us in California. I'm waiting until we take a trip down to San Diego so I can check them out in person. I can see what things really look like and not have to pay their outrageous shipping fee. $40 is ok if it's going out of state, but I would think in state should get a shipping break!!!!!! I have heard a lot of negative things about them too, so an in person purchase is the only way I'll take a chance with them :)

I've seen some PFS for <20, but then again I've seen 300 PP acans :o

There are so many choices that it seems no one as come forward and said this .... one is the Best ... but then I guess there are so many factors involved (money being one for sure) that it may be hard to pick the best system in the all-in-ones and in the ones that are made up of components.

Oh well that is what our hobby is all about ... choices and difficult decisions sometimes :)

Hey Albert,

I'm not quite sure as to what you're saying. Are you saying that the ELOS/Reef Octopus is the best, or that no one has really said that there is a "best" tank system. I think pin pointing a tank and calling it the best tank is difficult because each person has their own opinion of what is the best and what works for them. Some like simple AIO (JBJ) and perhaps later on add on additional equipment such as Vortechs, Skimmers, Controllers, etc and then move onto larger set ups such as custom tanks. But money is definitely a factor but then I'm still not 100% sure what you were saying. It might be because I just woke up from a nap.

They'll probably get more of those in, I hope!!!!!! Thanks for turning me onto that site, regardless :)

Water params are spot on. I think I know what the problem is. I had to do a few peroxide dips on them to remove bryopsis. I really think it was just too much for them. I even did some full strength dipping. Lesson learned! I don't think I'll lose every single polyp, so that's good. I'll just have to grow them out again. They grow pretty fast for me.

I was thinking of peroxide dipping, but was told that it was too dangerous. Rather than dipping, use a q-tip and soak it with the peroxide and rub it around the algae. I haven't tried it, but it sounds like it would work.

I wouldn't recommend taking pics of such nice corals when I live 30 minutes away

:ninja:

I haven't seen you on Neptunes wall of shame, so I think I'm fine. ;)

Unless one of those two people are you.

Your plate love = my paly love.

Hmmmm....yea, I suppose it is . Doesn't mean I don't love your Paly's though...I'm picking up some Candy Apples with the Sypodium. This guy gives out 9+polyps for $20, I was too stupid to grab them last time.

I think you may have misunderstood whatever I posted as I did not endorse any particular system as the Best one ... There are indeed so many different ones available that suggesting a best one is not something I would do as indeed too many factors are involved in "what is best" it all depends on what the hobbyist wants to accomplish.

Not only is the above to be factored in but also what a hobbyist wants to spend.

In addition as you say as hobbyists maintain tanks they decide to make changes and what was an existing system when it was originally purchased may very well become totally modified depending on what is added, changed, etc ... so no I would not post a "this is the best" type message ... I think you misunderstood whatI was trying to say ... but that's ok. no harm done :)

Ah, thanks for the clarification. I knew I probably was misreading something.

Awesome tank man. How do you get your BTA to not move in your tank? I am wanting to get one but worried it will move and sting all my other corals. I have a small nano like you and some pretty good corals like you.

Thanks

Just luck and some planning. BTAs prefer places with decent flow, good light, and somewhere to hide their feet so if they feel threatened they can shrink and hide themselves. So I placed it in an area that met those needs, he moved around a bit, leave him alone, and eventually he found his happy place, which just so happens to be the place I put him in the first place.

Sweeeet! :) I like the black on black...brings back memories of my AP24...my 10g is sorta like that, makes the colors pop more IMO.

Nice polyps and ricodea buddy.

Do you frag those coral by yourself?

Thanks Kayleen, most of the corals I bought. I only frag my corals to sell them, so those are in a separate frag/grow out tank.

I love black sand for its look definitely. But the magnetic property, not so much. It's something I wish I knew before hand.

How do you like your Kessil? Good coloration and growth? I hear good things about them but it's hard to find tanks that have Kessils lighting them up for long periods of time.

I love my kessils. I already saw some growth on my corals with the same coloration as before. Check my Page 36 for pictures of some growth.

Hey eksblenny, how's your tank going? That's because Kessils haven't been out for long. I got mine just a bit after when Kessils were coming out, which I think was near the end of last year? I like them a lot and am definitely a fan. Neptunes is planning to convert most of their tanks to the 350s. Which kessil did you have in mind? I'm still searching for a decently priced but nice acantho. :)

Hey IIX, what's going on man? Sorry, been busy with finals so I wasn't doing much with the tank. Actually skimped out on water changes for a week. Was a big no no and a few of the SPS aren't showing PE. Saphira is doing very well. She hides most of the time except for feeding time so it's hard to get pics, but I'll try!

To my knowledge there is no way to accomplish that as far as I know. They will keep moving until they find the right spot, the one "they" like. Keep in mind too that if you change anything in the tank, especially water flow directions, the BTA may not be happy any longer where it is and may start moving to a new spot again.

FWIW

Pretty much. I was just lucky as explained earlier. Also remember to cover your powerheads for the first few weeks or watch them carefully. My first BTA became BTA smoothie. This was a few years ago and was a sad learning experience for me.
