24 gauge wire ok for DIY LED?

Hi!

I just got the 24 gauge wire I ordered on eBay for my DIY LED project, 24 cree 3W LED, and I thought it looked very thin.

Especially since I had heard that the thicker the wire, the better. I then went online and discovered right away that 18 gauge wire is actually twice as thick as 24 gauge, when I had been thinking it was the other way around

The question is now, can I safely use this wire for my DIY LED build, or should I return it for something thicker?

How much current do you plan to run through this wire? Approximately how long are the runs (length of wire)?

24AWG has a maximum current rating of 3.5 amperes.

1A max current.

Between the LED stars there are max 2 inches and max 1 feet from the first and last LED to the thicker wire from the drivers.
