I see Current-USA has a PRO series LED that says it is for Reefs now. 453nm actinic, 12k white...

how many would i need for a 65 gallon, 24" deep, 36" wide and 18" deep tank to get adequate lighting to the sandbed for, say, a clam?

Any good?

In my experience I have 2 36" Marine Fusion strips over my 125 FOWLR. These fixtures are mainly for FO tanks. They only produce a third of a watt each which basically you can't get them to penetrate a tank that deep. They also produce a violet color like some leds out there which is very unnatural looking. I like them for my FO tank, but would never consider them for a reef.
