Dendroguy Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 Will loctite or plumbers putty be safe to glue corals to rocks
Salty_Snack Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 If its cyanoacrylate than its fine. I'm not sure what plummers putty your referring to but I wouldn't personally use it.
Lawnman Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 Loctite as in the red stuff you put on bolts? i would say no to that.
Dendroguy Posted January 23, 2012 Author Posted January 23, 2012 That stuff is good So safe to use in-tank?
Salty_Snack Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 It might be ok, there is a lot of reagents in it that if not well mixed, could leach into your system. I would just stick with superglue, I know that it will NOT hurt your system.
LongPig Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 Loctite also makes a heavy duty super glue gel. The bottle is black accented instead of blue. Works insanely well for frags. I use Mr. Sticky's for heavier stuff. It's a two part epoxy.
tako Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 http://www.loctiteproducts.com/p/13/6/epxy...lti-Purpose.htm Is this the stuff you're talking about? I personally wouldn't trust it because it says it isn't for potable water systems. I've been using JB Weld Waterweld that I found at Home Depot. It works pretty well and is rated for potable water. http://www.amazon.com/J-B-Weld-8277-Water/dp/B000BRQ0TW
tinkerer Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 i just used the loctite gel superglue tonight to keep my CUC from knocking my zoas over. 2 minutes after getting them set they were all back open and looking good.
