Saltyduck
Hello everyone! I'm having a little trouble with snails....and not all snails, just vegetarian snails it seems. First I got a bunch of nassarius snails - these are still alive and well. I got some trochus and turbos and they died within the week - plenty of food - lots of algae on the glass and some on the rocks. I thought it may have been a bad batch as the LFS I got them from seemed to have some technical issues w/ lighting and such so I tried some turbos from another place....same thing. I tested my water - everything is perfect. Had the LFS test my water - everything is perfect. I bought a copper test - no copper. Fish (1 clown, 1 starry blenny) are doing great. Crabs (emerald, bluelegs) are all doing great. Shrimp (peppermints) doing great. Nothing else in there now. Tried to get some more trochus - they truck around for awhile then just fall off the glass and don't get back up. But the nassarius are still fine. I had a heater explode in my tank awhile back but there were no copper pieces or anything and like I said - I tested for copper and it's fine. I did pretty much a full change after this happened (nothing survived) and started over. Any ideas? I want to get more things but am hesitant before the snail mystery is solved. Link to comment

Saltyduck
What were the interactions between the snails and hermits? When the snails die the nassarius and hermits sometimes go and eat them, but most of the time leave them alone....other than that the hermits seem to ignore them. I thought maybe one of the fish may be nipping their antennas or something, but the clown pretty much ignores them too. Link to comment
