AustinV90
I have had this monti for quite some time. Woke up to it looking like this: IMG_9579 by AustinVav, on Flickr Does anyone have any idea whats going on. Water parameters are are normal and where they should be. I had my Vortech on a lower setting overnight. Would low flow cause that? I do not think so but anyone with this experience or seen this please let me know. Only affecting my montipora. AustinV90
I immediatly did a water change and it has not spread after about 12 hours so far. Link to comment
kevlow
If it still has not spread, I would consider another fast WC, since it checked the spread to begin with. For me montis are only affected by two things: SG and ALK. In a 15g nano it is easy for these to swing but fortunately in small tanks it is easy to fix. Just a couple of quick WCs. Went to your tank thread and the FTS looks great. Is that an LA Laker scroll ? Red Cap, Yellow Scroll, and LA Laker are great color contrast combinations in a tank. For me the Yellow is the most sensitive to SG and Alk changes. kevin Link to comment
AustinV90
Im not sure what kind of scroll coral it is but it has not been affected at all. None of my sps have been affected other than my green branching monti and red cap which is now pretty much gone. I did another water change my ALK was a little bit low. I guess I will wait and see now. I sold a rock with my anemones on it the day before. Maybe I stirred up the sand to much? Link to comment

Although, I have a yellow cap that seems to lose tissue every time it gets to a large size. And, every time I managed to save it by breaking off the receding tissue. Link to comment

I have not known if it is size related or because after enough time passes in a small tank you are bound to have an ALK swing. Twice I have had the piece almost cup size only to have the flesh blister and peal off in spots. I break it off and start over. Each time though has more or less corresponded with an ALK swing. Low ALK difinitely affects the montis fast. Red Cap will get light white spots or faded rim. The encrusting montis spot, peel or fade. Link to comment
