fourtanks
Would one BoostLED par 30 be enough for a 10g nano? I know their site says excellent coverage for 12" x 12" but I can't afford two of them at this time. Link to comment
paratiddies
I've got that exact same setup right now, it's only been about 6 weeks but so far so good. I've got the light centered over the tank and just have the less demanding corals on the edges of the coverage area. Unless you want to be able to keep sps anywhere in the tank I think that one is fine personally Link to comment
SRT80
Tagging along here. How shaded are the edges? Any pics/videos? Thanks, Steve Link to comment
jtgordon20
You can do one, but it would help to buy another one later on to get a better look, less spotlight-y if you don't like it. Link to comment
Bishop
I have one Boost 60 degree over my 12 gallon nano cube derimmed and gutted. one light is perfect. The tank is square though. On a 10 gallon, you have shaded sides because the alternative is to raise the light to fill the tank and have a lot of light going outside the tank. That is wasted light. You could consider the well lit area to be just slightly larger in width than the depth. That will give an idea of what to expect. I thing the nanocube has some magic effect on light though. I've had a PAR38 over a 10 gallon and it looked like crap. I replaced it with t5. Had that bulb over my 12g and it looked great. It is 30 degree bulb though. That leaves the sides really dark. paratiddies
Tagging along here. How shaded are the edges? Any pics/videos? Thanks, Steve I'll try to get a pic tomorrow, the edges are definitely a little shaded but I think it's possible to scape the tank in a way that allows one light to work fine - leaving a couple of inches between the sides of the tank and rockwork, less demanding corals on the edges, higher demanding stuff more central, etc. I had an 8g BC that cracked and had to come up with something fast, after unexpectedly dropping money on a new tank, AC 70, and some lighting I didn't want to go with 2 bulbs and so far I'm happy with it Link to comment
paratiddies
These are the two best pics I could get with my crappy phone camera, the right side is empty because I moved everything from a BC8 and the extra rock I bought hasn't finished cycling yet. So far I've seen good growth from the zoas and acans (which are on the outer edges of the spotlight). It's hard to see, but at the top center there's a small frag of birdsnest which was growing great in the same spot under pc-r's but that is bleaching some under the boostled30 Link to comment
lil-bit
I have 2 par 30 bulbs over my 26 gal bow front, This is a link to my par readings. http://www.corareef.org/forum/showthread.php?t=12646 Link to comment
doppelganger
I will be fine. But again it all depends on your rock work. If you've got your tank filled with rock edge to edge, then 2 might be better. If you just have like a single island in the middle 1 will work fine until you feel the need to upgrade, IF you do. It also depends what kind of coral you want to keep. If you're keeping SPS or something, u'll be more limited to the spot directly under the middle of your bulb and u'll have to move the bulb closer. I'd say just get a wider optic like 60deg or something. bottom line, it'll be good enough for now to get you started. Just think about your coral/rock placement more. You can always get another one later. Link to comment

I know their site says excellent coverage for 12" x 12" but I can't afford two of them at this time. I have two on my 10 AGA and love it. As it stands now I can house just about anything. I would strongly suggest 2 as one leaves a lot of shadows and dead areas. Here is a picture my tank with two bulbs. BoostLED is currently running a special on the bulbs and/or complete kit. Hope this helps Rob, Tampa Tank with lights the first day after installing them Fairly recent shot with both lights. Link to comment
Jruberti
I have 1 on my 11.4. I really like it and the corals seem to like it as well I will be upgrading to the JBJ/Reshore Unibody LED fixture whenever it's released though. I'd say go for it. Link to comment
