Stinkiest part of the hobby

I was reading another thread about some mystery smell coming from someones tank. It got me thinking about some of the not so wonderful odors associated with this hobby. There are SEVERAL different nasty smells one can encounter but some are truly worse than others. You might have to have been in the hobby for a little while for your stench database to accrue enough variety to make a list. I can think of 5 awful odors off the top of my head but I will list the one that bugs me the most because it's easily preventable but sometimes overlooked.

Rotten Nori/Agae. If you have ever left nori on a clip for longer than 48 hours (usually by mistake ) or thought you got it all off only to leave the little 1/4 inch strip inside the teeth of the clip that not even the crabs can get, it is absolutely atrocious. It smells like a septic tank has backed up nearby and if you should get it on your hands, good luck getting that crap off. I don't recommend letting anything rot in your tank obviously but if you want to experience this stink, next time you do a WC put a folded over piece of nori in the waste water and let it "culture " for a few days and then give her a whiff.

Xenia out of water. It makes my skin crawl...yuk!

This was one of the five things in my head I mentioned. This was the kind of reply I was hoping for. That stuff is putrid.

Feeding frozen food to my corals has to be the stinkiest part so far. I usually feed cyclops or a mix of various things (squid, shrimp, and god knows what). The smell comes off easily with soap, but until you're actually messing around with the food...it's enough to attract my dog from 4 rooms away.

Surprised no one mentioned protein skimmer skimmate. That stuff can be awful!

I gotta go with dying anemone. Also I noticed the darker the skimmate; the worse the smell. Dead emerald crab too.
