phoenix91
I've discovered a few more hitchhikers and actually got some photos The first is soft, i'm thinking maybe some kind of soft coral? I have no idea what. From the front: From the side: And these, there's a crack in the rock full of them, they look like little red flowers. Sorry the photo isn't clearer. Link to comment
metrokat
red flowers could be a feather duster cluster. the other could be a sponge but not sure Link to comment
phoenix91
Could be, they don't really look like the other feather dusters i have in the tank. I haven't seen them hide at all, plus they don't really look like they're wafting in the breeze. Link to comment
metrokat
Tunicates then. check #114 and a few after that in this link critters Link to comment
Builder Anthony
red picture....................i forgot what they are called but they are filter feeders and they are not tunicates or feather dusters. If they are still alive they will develop a whiteish hair like sea fan type branch which seems to filter the water. They arent anything to be worried about as they seem to be filter feeders and are very delicate once the branching occurs.Very common though finding ones that are alive and branching are less common. Most probally die after being exposed to air for long periods of time. phoenix91
Thanks for the link, that'll help loads if i find anything else. The rock was barely in the open air, it went from the tank into a bag of water then straight into my tank of water so hopefully whatever the red things are won't be too damaged by the air. I'll see how they grow and see what comes out of them to better find out what they are. Link to comment
RayWhisperer
Red stuff is formifrans. Don't quote me on the spelling. Too lazy to see if it's right (I doubt it is.) Link to comment
