Derpy Hoofs
Summary: Bought duster, dripped, placed. Wait three days. Nothing. Wat do? Nothing else is wrong in my tank, save for small amounts of diatoms. Should I remove it before it rots, or is it even dead? Link to comment

Nothing else is wrong in my tank, save for small amounts of diatoms. Should I remove it before it rots, or is it even dead? Id wait a couple more days to be honest. Sometimes my dusters stay in the tubes for days at a time. I have heard of other reefers dusters staying in their tubes for weeks and nothing is wrong. It took a while for mine to get used to the tank. Link to comment

Not to be rude or anything but feather dusters not coming out is not normal, it means something is wrong or they are F.. piss.. off with your water quality, flow or something. If they havent come out in 3 days probably they will die or they are recovering from some damage which in this case I dont think they are injured, who knows. I bring more than 40 dusters directly from the OCEAN every year(yup, im so mean w/e), I dont use anything fancy to ship them, just doubble bag them put them inside a plastic container like those walmart sells for office usage and throw it in my luggage. The water gets brown/green when I get to my home after 5-6 hours later, the water looks just like pythoplankton though ( without the d@mn disgusting odor hehehehe) Every single duster fully open inmediately or a few minutes later, the ones that never open in the first couple days they end up getting out of the tubes and dying on my sand bed. Try to place him in another area without flow to see what happen. Good Luck. Link to comment
Reef Casa
I agree with PRReef I have had many and they always come out within hours of placing it in the tank Link to comment
Nasty Canasta
You can usually feel them through their tube if you give it a gentle squeeze you should feel it wriggle, got to say they usually do open pretty soon though unless your water quality is off. Link to comment
keydiver
It could have lost its crown due to stress or predation. If none of your CUC is picking at it, I'd say leave it be. If you see snails and hermits picking at the tube, it's more than likely dead. Link to comment
