BocaIvan
I have tried to run both return pumps at the same time several times and my corals always seem to have an issue with it. I also have a Koralia 1 on the back glass facing the from about half way down. I am thinking of removing the Koralia 1 and just running the 2 return pumps on the wavemaker on 2 minute intervals. Do you all think that would be enough flow for corals, mix of SPS, LPS and softies? Should I try running both returns together and no Koralia? What are you all doing? Link to comment
pablom617
Are you bouncing the K1 off of the glass? I try and create zones in my tank by aiming my powerheads at each other or the glass. You want to create Turbulent flow vs Laminar flow, corals like variation. Link to comment
BocaIvan
This is how it's setup Link to comment
Ezsharkman
I would put the K1 on the right or left side of the tank. You will get the Turbulent flow Pablom617 is talking about. I know it might look like lame at first but you wont notice it after awhile Great scape! Link to comment
pablom617
Why don't you try and put the K1 on the side glass aimed diagonally at the front glass so it disrupts your returns. Also you may want to raise it higher so you have high flow at the top of your tank where you would keep SPS and medium flow toward the middle of the tank where you would keep LPS. The bottom can be reserved for low flow corals. Link to comment
BocaIvan
My wife hates how it looks there and I don't blame her, The K1 is huge. I think if I had an MP10 she wouldn't mid it as much.... Link to comment
Ezsharkman
A Mp10 is my next purchase... those Koralia's sure do take up some serious real-estate in a nano. Link to comment
BocaIvan
no doubt! the thing is massive, hence why we put it back there. Thanks for the compliment on the scape, I have thought about switching it up but haven't decided what to do yet... any comments on the returns? Link to comment
Ezsharkman
I have my returns exactly like yours. I was having some low PH issues and wanted to get as much surface agitation as i could get. I had some co2 buildup and it was suppressing my pH. Now that my windows have been open, my ph went back up. anyway, I'm rambling You can try different positions and see how you like it.... but i always end up back exactly like that. i wouldn't change that scape. i love it! love the platforms on the top. Perfect for adding sps and other corals =) Link to comment
BocaIvan
Do you have a JBJ 28? Are you using the wavemaker? Link to comment
Ezsharkman
yeah, I got the jbj 28 Hqi. I run both return pumps at the same time with a larger non stock media basket, but i do use the wave-maker to pulse my Koralia for 90 seconds... only for a few hours a day. I just read that you are not supposed to run the Koralia on the duo pulse wavemaker, but i don't care. (supposedly it can shorten the life of the pump) As soon as i get the MP 10 the Koralia is out of the tank forever! Link to comment
BocaIvan
I upgraded the media basket as well... I'm going to pull the K1 tonight and try to run both pumps again and see how the corals react. Are you still running the stock return pumps? Link to comment
Ezsharkman
Yeah... I have actually been pretty happy with them, but have thought about upgrading from time to time The one thing i have been having trouble with is getting the dang pumps out for cleaning. Mine always seen to get stuck on the way up. My girlfriend also tried to help me with her little hands and she couldn't get it out either. Honestly The last time i tried to get one out i worked on it for over an hour! I swear it got the best of me and pretty much drove me to drink Got any tips for me =) Link to comment
BocaIvan
I have the same problem. I leave the return pipes on them and use that with their electric cords to take them out. Link to comment
Ezsharkman
Yeah. I try to leave the return tube on too, but it always comes off during the pump removal battle. One time they Both came out on the first try, i swear! i was so happy that i wanted to party! sounds like every time i touch the pumps i end up drinking. Link to comment
BocaIvan
I'd be cleaning them daily! Link to comment
BocaIvan
So K1 was removed and both pumps have been turned on. So far so good. Nothing has closed up and fish do not look stressed. Tank looks so much better without the massive K1. Forgot how big it actually was. Only thing I am concerned with is that the front half of the tank has surface scum that's not making it's way to the back. Any ideas on how to fix that or will it go away over time? Definitely need to save up for an MP10 now. Link to comment
Ezsharkman
Lower one side just a tad and it should get that film outa there Link to comment

Ezsharkman
Omg you live in "rat mouth" I mean boca raton. Have you heard of the frag farmer? Most of his deals are on Facebook right now, but he has sweet deals on Corals. I ordered from him a few weeks ago and could nott be happier. Only twelve bucks shipping in florida Link to comment
BocaIvan
So I've adjusted twice and it still looks the same... Let's see what happens over night. Yea I know them. I bought my tank from them. I haven't bought corals from them yet. I was thinking of hitting them up in a week or so. Their shop is 2 miles from my house. Link to comment

BocaIvan
Film is still there. I turned on the wavemaker to clear it up. Anyone have a pic they can post showing the direction of the return nozzles? Link to comment
