deligirlmss
Well I got my unidentified wrasse Friday night. Her behavior is normal, she is eating and is very curious about her surroundings and myself. But, it looks like something is wrong with her bottom fin. I have no idea what's going on with it. Also she has some small white dots, is it ich? I'm not very familiar with the marine variety, but can't it be caused by stress? And can it just go away on its own? Link to comment

If you want it eradicated from the system, you need to QT for 8 weeks. However, you can soak its food in garlic and keep it in good conditions and it might fight it off on its own. It'll show up in times of stress, though. If she's eating well, she'll probably get through it. Link to comment

More stress=more ich. I only had one fish with ich and died within 15 minutes, poor platy got nipped to death by my betta(this was around 6 months ago) Link to comment

Additionally, saltwater ich and freshwater ich are 2 different parasites- Ichtyopthirius is the freshwater kind and Cryptocaryon is the saltwater kind. Honestly, the fish is stressed out enough by being in a new environment; if anything, it would be better to be in a dimly lit tank by itself with medication (copper or hyposalinity being the preferred treatments- I would go with the hyposalinity, however, as it seems to be less stressful for fish). Read this topic and this topic for more info on marine ich- however, if you feed often and keep it stress free, it might be able to fight it off by itself. Link to comment
