Does Hardware Ever Go On Sale?

Do big ticket items like Controllers, Tanks, Lighting Systems or MP10's ever go on sale?

Are there good deals on days like Black Friday, or are they mostly discounts where 'exceptions apply'?

I'm checking to find used items for sale, but if there are good discounts coming, that would give me something to look forward to.

Yes, there are typically numerous holiday sales. From what I've seen, it's usually around 15-20% off. Big ticket items have been included in sales in the past.

I don't believe I've seen specific pieces of hardware going on sale, but a lot of online retailers will have site-wide coupons/offerings where you can get free shipping, % off, etc.

To give my honest opinion though - a lot of the aquatic hardware is overpriced from the start, and most of it (barring the "in" technology like LEDs and Vortechs) tends to depreciate fast. Keep your eyes on all sides of the used market - forums, eBay, Craigslist, and even LFS used equipment.

Foster and smith had a summer sale not too long ago, I didn't buy any big ticket items but I did notice that some lighting systems were on sale

I always look for promo codes and free shipping. I don't buy anything without shopping my A$$ off.

i got my JBJ 28 Hqi and stand for $315 shipped.

i am shopping for a mp10 right now and can get it for 198.... not a super deal but I'll take it.

i think the rlk is on sale at marine depot for 107.99 right now.

just keep your eye out and you will find some sweet deals. especially with the holidays coming up

Some of the manufacturers fix prices on their products, so there's some stuff that won't really go on sale, ever...

DFS and marine depot often have good sales. DFS had a huge one this summer, and I just got an email this morning about a 4 day sale.

A lot of the most popular high dollar items have what is called MAP pricing so vendors cannot discount it without violating their agreement with the manufacturer. What you may find though is they may bundle it with something else which is discounted so it ends up being a good deal.

+1

Came to say this. Also, the bigger sites can sometimes be allowed to have very small sales on certain MAP'ed items, but this is rarely (read never) happens the same time as other big sales.
