Seldon Posted March 26, 2004 Posted March 26, 2004 I went to the store and got some super glue to attach my corals. I was wondering if it is a good kind to use and if anyone has any experience with it. It is Loctite QuickTite Super Glue and here is a pic of it. Thanks Chris
RandomLetters Posted March 26, 2004 Posted March 26, 2004 you want to go with the superglue gel from loctite, normal superglue is just too runny
Seldon Posted March 26, 2004 Author Posted March 26, 2004 so will the package say super glue gel on it. ex: quicktite super glue gel or will it be mentioned somewhere else?
Seldon Posted March 26, 2004 Author Posted March 26, 2004 when you glue them do you take the corals out of the water or do you stick the bottle in the water?
theclearblue Posted March 26, 2004 Posted March 26, 2004 You get a nice tight seal if you glue out of the water. Put a small glob on the bottom of what you're gluing, dunk it in water to get it to firm up, reapply another small glob and then press and hold it to rock rubble, plug, whatever for 30 seconds or so.
theDude Posted March 26, 2004 Posted March 26, 2004 The best glue to use you can only get from a hobby store, the kind that carries radio control stuff. SuperGlue is just a trade name for cyanoacrylate adhesives. You can get it in any consistancy you want from super runny to really thick. The great thing about getting it from a hobby shop is most of the manufaturers make medical grade CA glues and use the same formula and quality control for all of their glues. Just ask for CA glue and they'll know what you're looking for.
Seldon Posted March 26, 2004 Author Posted March 26, 2004 are we talking model glue, like the stuff in the orange and white bottle or blue and white bottle?
NCNBilly Posted April 3, 2004 Posted April 3, 2004 I just tried to use the loctite gel....I must be missing something. I got no adhesion at all.
bobioden Posted April 3, 2004 Posted April 3, 2004 Do as listed above, put the glue on, dunk it in water, re-apply more glue, then stick to the LR. You might have to re-apply the third time, but once it sticks you are good to go.
