nathanq.inc
I'm going to upgrade the lighting in my Boyu TL450. Just now it's two 50/50 PC lights at 18w each. I am only keping softies, mushies and LPS so I'm not looking for a massive lighting upgrade, just a big enough one to get rid of my cyano (3 months after I replace the lights I get the problem of cyano, the lights are £10 each so that's £20 every three months which is out of the question). Now I do have a limited amount of space because I am looking to keep the hood. Im thinking about getting some Cree LEDs, thinking of going 50% royal blue and 50% cool white but how many of them would I need? What driver would I require to run these and how many them? I have been reading through all the LED topics and they have been very helpful as well. I have emailed Rapid LED to see if they will ship to the UK and if the stuff shipped will be compatible with the UK mains electric system. There are already two fans built in, will these plus the heat sink be enough to deal with the heating? or will I need to try and install some more fans? Any help at all would be appreciated. nathanq.inc
So this is what I'm going for. Any suggestions? Is the colour mixing OK? Link to comment
Milad LEDGroupBuy.com
for that Tank (its 15ix17x16in correct?) and to keep some SPS and LPS you would need about 16 LEDs I would suggest getting About 12 Royal blue and 6 Neutral White at the most. You can probably get away using 10 Royal blue and 5 Neutral White and keep almost anything. You can easily do something like that for under $125 in a DIY system. Throw in a sunrise sunset controller to do all the dimming and you got it for under $200. To get the color you want I would encourage you to make sure you put the different color LEDs on different drives so you can fine tune it. Link to comment
