MasterBlaster
Good evening nano reefer's, I wanted to get back into the hobby after being MIA for 5 years. I wanted a cube that would look good and fit perfect on my counter top at work. So with all the choices out there I decided to go with the JBJ 6 gallon nano. It has been up for 2 weeks and I just finished adding all the live rock and clean up crew. I have been researching this site and others for all the info on this tank so here's what I got. Here are the pics: FRONTAL PIC CLOSE UP FRONTAL LEFT SIDE RIGHT SIDE Chamber one has filter pad then filter sponge underneath cut into a third Chamber two has chemipure and is awaiting the addition of purigen. Chamber three has the stock pump being replaced with a mini-jet 606 next week Stock flow head being replaced with a hydor flo deflector A mini sera heater is on hand in case I need it this winter. Surface skimmer installed with mod to keep it in place, will show mod pic at end of post Tank contents: Substrate: 10 lbs Caribsea livesand aragonite pink. Removed sand till 1 inch depth reached, I think about 7 lbs remain Live Rock: 6 lbs Tonga and Fiji I think(the porous kind) Critters: 2 nassarius snails, 1 scarlet hermit, 1 Astrea snail, 2 bristle worms(shook off rock and put into sand bed) Fish: ? Yellow Clown Goby, Percula clown, Yellow Tail Damsel for cycle? What do you nano reefers think about he build so far? All comments are welcomed and appreciated. What do you think of the scape? My future plans are to do soft corals(low light thrivers) in here with the stock lighting, all 18 watts of it! Woohoo! p.s. Pic of the skimmer mod to keep it in place without gluing it into the tank. A small piece of heavy duty double stick tape(only one side removed) to hold the right side at level while the left side fits right under the lip of the tank. Cool huh? Now that's what I call the cheapest mod thus far. Thanks for looking, Regards, Jay Link to comment

JoelRHale
Nice, I blasted some and they came back... going to blast some this weekend hopefully. Tank is looking good btw I like your skimmer mod and your coral plans are like mine when I started... it has a way of changing on you Link to comment
castiel
I believe it is Aiptasia, I will nuke it today. Thanks I just realised I should be careful when naming aiptasia by my 'pet name' antipasta, because most people will not get it and think I am just an idiot =0) I have some to blast this weekend too ... gong for the blowtorch approach I think. Boiling water didn't do the trick at all. Link to comment

Ha And Joel I already rescaped it a bit, will post new scape pics tomorrow. On another note, what should I do for fish? I know I could pop a damsel in for cycling but he would be impossible to get out once I decide to get some other peaceful fish. I would like to do a perc aka ocelaris clown and a yellow clown goby, I think I'll call it a clown tank. Do yall think a yellow tail damsel would get aggressive with a clown goby or a perc clown? Let me know your thoughts guys. Thanks for the response. Jay Link to comment
MasterBlaster
Hey reefers, Well another week has gone by and the nano is still in the cycling process. I have swapped the stock pump for a mini jet 606. This pump is so much more quieter and much smaller. It also pushes more gph which is a plus. I also added the Hydor flo deflector, which needed 2 adapters plugged together along with a zip tie to get it to fit nice and snug. It actually makes it stick out a little further which is fine and moves the water around the tank in random waves. I'll have pics up tomorrow with a minor rescape to open the front swimming space of the tank up a bit. Well that's it for now, ph and salinity is good so far with minimal water evaporation, being topped of with fresh ro/di water. So far so good.......... Thanks for looking and keep an eye out for the updated pics. Peace, Jay Link to comment
wartskin
I liked it...have to check back and see the new look Link to comment
MasterBlaster
Here's the re-scape look, moved the big rock from the front into the back and the little one from the back to the front making more room in the front for the fish to swim and allowing more sitting spaces for the upcoming corals to sit on. UP CLOSE TOP W/CLAM IN THE ROCK UP CLOSE BOTTOM FRONT LEFT SIDE TOP HYDOR FLOW WITH ASTREA Will have more updates next week and will check water parameters and follow up with a report. "Tanks" for looking and all comments are welcome. Peace. Link to comment
