Eric23
I just bought a jbj 28 gallon hqi with the nanotuners 2 pc light upgrade off my local forum. I currently have a 6 gallon jbj thats been up for almost a year but im going to transfer everything over once i get the new tank set up. I have a questions tho, #1 will I have to acclimate my coral to the HQI ? The lighting in the 6g is 2 18 watt pcr uvl lamps. #2 can I or should I use the 6g as a refugium for the 28 and if so is there a link to how to set it up ? Ive never done a refugium before. #3 aside from the usual upgrades (media rack, lights, pumps) are there any mods or tips you guys have for me regarding the jbj HQI ??? Thanks ahead of time for any and all imput Link to comment

Thanks ahead of time for any and all imput to answer to the lighting question is yes...i always acclimate when changing lights and especially light types...some people report no problems but id rather be safe and not have dead or burnt corals the way i do it is buy the plastic screen they sell at home depot...comes in rolls for cheap...dont get the metal type i cut 4-5 sheets to fit over the top of my aquarium and set up the light as i would run it..6-8 hours or whatever every 2 days i take off one of the sheets of screen...by the last day the corals should be acclimated Link to comment
7digits
+1, I did this to except I removed one screen a week Link to comment
Hammcd
yeah, i should mention that i put all my coral on the sandbed when i do the 2 day method...if you are putting your coral where they will stay (higher in the tank) etc then id rec. doing longer times before screen removal..like a week as mentioned earlier Link to comment
