Backwerds Man
Saw something crazy today that I didn't think would happen. After my lights went out I could see my Cleaner Shrimp out in the front of my tank, which is unusual after lights out. So I went over to see what he was up to and proceeded to watch him eat 2 pretty young Collinista Snails. Anyone else ever have a snail eating cleaner shrimp? I never thought they'd bother a snail, but apparently I'm wrong. Most of my snail populations are growing, but I have noticed a sharp decline in collonistas lately. Looks like I found the source of the empty shells. Link to comment
Backwerds Man
Feed him. I feed him plenty. He eats with my fish. This diet includes flakes, pellets, Mysis, and occasionally some chopped up razor clams I have in my freezer that I never eat. I feed my fish/coral generously every other day. Link to comment
altolamprologus
Feed him. +1 Cleaner shrimp should be fed every day because they have fairly high metabolisms. A hungry cleaner will seek out other sources of food. Link to comment
Rehype
I can confirm the same behavior ....my cleaner actually loved to eat my stomatella snails. He would eat them even after he was fed it seemed he really loved their taste.Go figure... Link to comment
