chad590
Hello everyone! I have just recently been given a 12 gallon aquapod aquarium that is already partially set up. The thing is though, I know nothing about the tank or how to properly care for it! Right now the tank has the live sand, live rock, a cleanup crew and a few soft corals in it. My major problem is that the overflow box is empty! All it has are the chambers filled with water and the pump driving the water. I know this isn't good and I don't want the tank to crash, but i just don't know what I need to get for the filter! Can anyone give me a recommendation of what to put in there? Link to comment

chad590
i use chemi pure in mine ...filter floss and purigen ...i dont know about your setup ..i have the biocube and 8 gal and a 29 gal and that is what i use in mine I believe the aquapod and biocube are practically the same thing (for the most part) just different brand names.. Anyway, In the first chamber I put in filter floss, second chamber the purigen? Is there anything i need for my overflow box/filter? ALSO I live in hot hot Orlando, Florida and I am having a problem keeping my temperature from fluctuation from 77 to 82 degrees. I know this is a large fluctuation in temp and would love to get it stable before i add any coral/fish. Would i have to get a small chiller and a heater working together to keep the correct temperature? Or am I just going about this in a bad way? Link to comment
jestep
Purigen, Chemipure elite, seagel, or just plain carbon in the chamber below the floss. Realistically a lot of people only use floss and nothing else. Get on a schedule with your water changes. 1 - 3 gallons per week would be sufficient for a 12 gallon, or possibly more if you start stocking it more. As for the temp, a cooling fan is a good way to get the temp down a bit. Azoo makes some small ones. A lot of people use small computer fans if you like to do things yourself. Link to comment
