cberglof
Good skimmer? Yes or no? Also does it fit in biocube 29 first chamber with no mods? Thx I've been happy with mine. Pulls a lot of gunk out, runs problem free. No mods need to fit into chamber one. It is tight but after you figure it out it is easy to get in and out for cleaning. I have been running mine for 9 months and have had great luck with it. I recently did the air tube mod, and the fish line mod, but haven't really noticed any increased performance. I keep my tank pretty clean though. I have 3 fish all tube fed, and I target feed my corals, and do 5 gal water changes every week. Link to comment
jam77
Good skimmer and yes it fits in the first chamber with no mods. It's a tight fit but it wii work. I've been running one in my hqi for about 8 months now and it pulls some nasty stuff out. I did the airline mod on the skimmer and that made it work even better I would def recommend doing that to yours. Just do a search for the mod someone on here made a thread on how to do it. andrenym00
+1, works well im happy I'm contemplating the skimmer or a fuge basket with chaeto, will this work as well as a skimmer? What are peoples opinions on skimmer vs a refugium? I have a fowlr, what should I do? Link to comment
Euphyllia
I believe you have to cut a hole in the hood to get the cup to fit. It barely fits in my BioCube 29 HQI and the covers on the back chambers are taller than the BioCube 29 hood. Link to comment

Euphyllia
Thats what I've heard and one of the reasons I'm thinking about the fuge basket instead. Baskets are stupid. Don't buy them. Just fill the entire middle chamber with chaeto and put a light on the outside. That will take care of your nitrates/phosphates and you can run some carbon whenever you need to. Here's what I did to my BioCube 29 HQI... $15 for a fixture, 5500k bulb and pegs to clamp the fixture on to. Got it all at Home Depot. In the BioCube 29, you need to scrape the paint off the back to where it's clear, then you can shine the light through the middle chamber. If you don't have the room behind the tank, you can get a JBJ Nano Glo from StevieT for the same price a media basket is. Link to comment
Squared
this skimmer makes a ton of micro bubbles, so find a way to keep the out of the DT, ie. filterfloss. pulls out decent skimmate. Link to comment

Euphyllia
well good for you but still be prepared for a swarm of microbubbles I've had my tank running with the skimmer for about four months now. No more micobubbles than the usual created from the pump. Link to comment
