Nasty
My Captain America Palys have turned brown and fuggly under my month old par38 led lights. Previously I had them under 14k halides and they looked amazing... I just can't seem to find the right spot for them to shine right now. On a side note, my "Mind Blowing Palys". That were dookie brown under the halides are now metallic blue and green... You win some...you lose some... Anyone have any general placement advice for the captains? Link to comment
Tenor
Place Capt on the sand where you get less light the color will come back, Capt is not a high light zoa. Link to comment
Nasty
Put them low and they are already starting to color up again. It amazes me how quickly the color shift can happen in either direction. Link to comment
PinkDamsel
Nasty, what is the color that is returning? I got some light pink zoas (palys?) from a T5 tank. At first they were that nice pink color on my sandbed, but over time turned brown. Moved them up, and after 2+ months they're still brown, although otherwise healthy looking. My light is a PAR 30, 4RB/1CW and I've been thinking it's a spectrum, not an intensity, issue. Link to comment

I think you are correct on this, 4RB and 1 CW are too much blue for the corals to grow and healthy, I would do 3RB, 2 CW and color might come back. Link to comment

Thanks. Actually, there is now available the same light but with Neutral White, CW & RB, so less blue but the Neutral also adds wavelengths absent in CW and RB. What colors do you have? dling
i have a diy led setup that consists of 12xrb and 12xcw. Is there any reason I should make color changes on my lights? If so ,to what .The corals seem to be doing fine but maybe they could be better. Link to comment

I got alot of zoas with all color you could imaging and non of them lost any color but actually increasing color under led...not under led light but actual corals it self. Most of the corals color will be nice under blue light, same as T5 and led. But if you mixed with white, the color will balance out means corals will look like it lost color because it actual color mixed with white light but it will help coral grow rate. you could mixed with 1 or 2 of red, green or neutral white will be ok. I done with red and green before i have a diy led setup that consists of 12xrb and 12xcw. Is there any reason I should make color changes on my lights? It will look dark abit if you got black back ground, blue will look brighter. Link to comment
Nasty
The color has yet to properly return, but it's disk is separating into 3 different browns, the centre is looking a little orange...before I lowered them, they were one uniform brown color. Overall in the tank The few red corals I had are plump, responsive, and orange... I'm using the rapidled par38 bulbs. I do have some pink zoas that have stayed a consistent light pink, and I have some purple deaths that when viewed from the top look deep purple, but from the sides looks purplish brown.
